Spin
I remember once
in your backyard,
surrounded by trees and grass,
you and I
hands clasped tightly
crossed over each other.
X marks the spot
we ran around
so fast, so fast
toes shuffling, tripping over each other
cries escaping past wide grins
and joyous sounds leaping past
our unguarded mouths
eyes shut tightly against the world flying by:
purees of blue, brown, green and yellow
blurred with the speed of our feet
heads thrown back, flung against
the napes of our necks
and hair tangling in the wind
as it whipped around us
our grips were loosened
our hands were ripped apart
and our bodies were sprawled
on the cool grass
satisfied smiles
painted across our small faces
as the world
spun
        and spun
                        and spun.
