They control our thoughts
The teach us about slavery
but fail to show us the parallels
in our own lives
the more digits
behind your family's net worth
the easier time you will have,
unless you're on scholarship.
They teach us love
in weekly God worship
(it's nondenominational
unless you don't believe in God)
yet turn their backs
on the emotional and verbal abuse.
Over the lower division
there are one foot metal spikes
over every doorway and on each window sill
to prevent pigeons from doing
what I've wanted to do
for so very long.
