Broken

in your arms
Friday melted into Saturday
but time stood still
just like it does in the movies.
the dusking dawn
threatened to steal you away
So I clung tighter
to your chest
dissolving myself in the warm
drumbeat
contained, echoing, in your chest
that protected me.
Your crushing arm
surrounded me
and your scent tainted
my air,
perfecting it.

my head may be in the clouds
but your strong hands
on the small of my back
ground me.
your breath ruffles my hair
as you speak to my scalp
I rest my chin
on the dip in your collarbone
and stare into those clear pools of emotion
that I fell so deeply in love with.

I tilted my face upwards,
the upturned tip of my nose
touching your hawk-like one
as your dry lips
placed themselves on top of my awaiting ones.
Your eyes remained fixated on mine
locked in a stare you words had fortified

disbelief

Don't be sad
No tears, please?
Promise?
OK.
